Often, these Siamese cats have an appearance very similar to a wild lynx, which is where the variation gets its name.

While Lynx Point Siamese is the proper name for this cat, it also goes by other names. In America, it’s sometimes referred to as a Lynx Colorpoint Shorthair, as it’s called by the Cat Fanciers Association. In the UK, The Governing Council of the Cat Fancy calls them Tabby Point Siamese instead.

Lynx Point Siamese cats can come with cream, cinnamon, apricot, or caramel coats with darker markings that appear as bands running down the body and legs. The points of a Lynx Point Siamese can be teal, lilac, chocolate, or blue.

While Lynx Point Siamese cats have a unique and beautiful look that sets them apart from other Siamese cats, it’s really their personalities that make them so popular. These cats tend to be much calmer and more docile than standard Siamese cats, which generally tend to be packed with energy. Lynx Point Siamese cats are rarer than your average Siamese, but they’re not difficult to find. Many of them are available for sale or adoption if you look. A much rarer version of the Lynx Point Siamese is called the Tortie Point Siamese, which is a tortoiseshell variation of the Lynx Point Siamese. These cats are incredibly rare and locating one to add to your family could prove to be a difficult undertaking.
