What Is the Bearaby Pupper Pod? How Does It Work?

If you’re cautious and concerned about the environment and need a no-nonsense type of bed for your dog, keep reading.

The Bearaby Pupper Pod is an eco-friendly slumber option for your sleepy pet, but it comes with a twist—literally. Unlike other dog beds, the Pupper Pod is a two-piece bed. You have the main cushion for sleeping and the twisted outer ring that forms a nice cradle shape.

Any dog can enjoy this bed, but in my 4-week test run with my 49-pound German Shepherd, I found that small dogs and senior dogs are the best customers. It also helps if you’re in the market for a high-quality bed that will last for a long time. If this is you, go to Bearaby.com to order your dog’s new and improved bed.

Now, let’s dive deeper into what makes this bed so special.

Bearaby Pupper Pod Pricing

Let’s be clear that this is not your average dog bed from Walmart. The Pupper Pod is a premium bed with a corresponding price. The main reason is the sourced material, which I’ll get into in just a minute.

After fiddling with the bed and watching my dog use it, I understand: the bed is built to last.

Delightfully, you won’t have much packaging to peel and pry. Bearaby wraps their Pupper Pods in pleasing carrying bags and packages the rest in a cardboard box. That’s it! They really live up to the sustainable promise.

Here are the dimensions for the bed options:

Small Bed:
  • Sleep Space: 20” x 16” x 3”
  • Total Space: 23.3” x 21.3” x 5”
  • Holds up to 25 pounds
Medium Bed:
  • Sleep Space: 23” x 19” x 3”
  • Total Space: 25” x 23” x 5”
  • Holds up to 40 pounds

Cushion, Ring, and Overall Shape

The first thing you will notice about your Bearaby Pupper Pod is that the cushion and outside ring are separate. It doesn’t make much sense initially, but the main goal of this design is to provide a sense of security for the dog.  Plus, the ring serves as a bonus headrest.

The cushion is a nice balance between firm and soft, meaning it doesn’t sink into the floor after a few uses. This was huge for me because so many dog beds are practically worthless after a month.

However, the Pupper Pod stood the test of time. Ultimately, this bed is a great option for senior dogs with arthritis and joint pain.

Sustainably Sourced Materials

The fancy-schmancy materials that make this bed so special are GOLS-certified Melofoam, a squishy yet firm rubber foam made from the sap of hevea trees in Sri Lanka.

Once the tree sap is collected, it’s gently steamed until the final product is a spongy, breathable foam. Any waste is reused for sustainable agricultural practices. Oh, and the trees? Don’t worry. They live for several years after. As for the outside material, it’s 100% organic cotton.

Easy to Clean

The bed itself is very easy to clean. A few swipes of a lint roller and a washcloth will do the trick for a quick spot clean. If you need to deep clean the bed, unzip the outer layer and toss it in the wash. Don’t wash the cushion insert, though, since the waterproof cover protects it.

Small Breeds Only

The biggest downside to this bed is the size. Only small and medium-sized breeds can sleep comfortably on this bed. You could remove the outer ring and let your dog sprawl across the cushion, but the bed seems too expensive to be unable to use both pieces.

Thankfully, Bearaby offers a 30-day return policy (with a shipping fee) if you don’t wash the bed.

Is Bearaby a Good Value?

Bearaby isn’t a budget dog bed, so it may not work for you if the upfront cost is a major consideration. However, it is a good value because it’s so well made. The creators have gone to great lengths to provide a uniquely made product that will last for years.

FAQ

What’s Unique About Bearby?

Bearaby sources its materials from overseas using sustainable practices. These materials require a time-consuming process that yields a great product with a unique design.

Does Bearaby Actually Help With Anxiety?

Every dog is different, so no one can tell if it will help your dog. The only way to know is to try the bed.

Is This Dog Bed Washable?

The outside fabric is 100% cotton and can be put in a standard washing machine and hung to dry. The cushion does not need to be washed since it’s protected by a water-resistant cover.

How Long Will the Pupper Pod Last?

How long the bed lasts depends on how long your dog uses it. Generally speaking, the Pupper Pod is built with durable, all-natural materials, so it should last a few years before you notice wear and tear.

Our Experience With Bearaby

I loved how balanced the bed’s softness and firmness were. I immediately knew this bed would maintain structure and comfort far better than other pet beds I’ve tried. Surprisingly, it was also easy to clean! Removing fur took only a few swipes of a lint roller.

Raven, my 49-pound miniature German Shepherd, didn’t use the bed as much as I would have hoped. In fact, she mostly loved using it as a chew toy. Go figure!

As you can imagine, she was too big to enjoy the bed’s maximum comfort, but that didn’t stop her from lounging a few times, which told me the bed was good enough for her. So, I will keep the bed for when she wants to lay on something besides the couch.

Conclusion

With an all-natural, sustainable approach to pet care, Bearaby offers the best comfort nature can offer. It’s a premium product, but your dog can truly enjoy this bed without the structure giving way after a few uses.

Size is a deal-breaker with the Pupper Pod, so check that your dog meets the size requirements before you purchase one. If all looks good, give the Pupper Pod a go and see what you think. If it doesn’t work out, don’t worry—Bearaby’s return policies are reasonable.
