Features & Benefits

First off, this particular aquarium substrate is great for aquariums with lots of plants. Yes, it is just fine for aquariums with lots of fish. It won’t harm them in any way, but where this stuff really shines is with plants. In other words, Caribsea Sand is strong enough for a fish, but made for a plant.

The best part about Caribsea FloraMax Sand in our opinion is that it is excellent for plant growth, which is true for several different reasons. First of all, this substrate is mineralogically superior to most other substrates out there. It contains higher amounts of potash, magnesium, calcium, iron, and potassium than most other types of substrate at this moment in time.

All of these minerals are extremely important for the healthy growth and maintenance of plants, which is exactly why Caribsea FloraMax contains so much of each of them. This is exactly the kind of substrate needed when you see aquarium plants that require an extremely nutrient rich substrate.

Another big benefit that you get with Caribsea is that it features so called unsurpassed macro porosity. This may sound really complicated, but it’s really not.
