    About Pet Releaf

    pet releaf products

Who Makes Pet Releaf and Where Is It Produced?

Pet Releaf was founded in 2014 and mainly operates in Denver, CO. It was founded by pet owners who were searching for holistic and natural alternatives to prescription opioid medications to alleviate chronic pain. Pet Releaf products are developed to help pets experiencing common health and wellness issues like situational stress, arthritis, and indigestion.

The FDA has yet to approve¹ the use of CBD products on pets, so there aren’t strict regulations placed on them. However, Pet Releaf has its own set of high standards for practice to ensure that it delivers high-quality CBD and hemp products to pet owners.

Pet Releaf products earned the Quality Seal from the National Animal Supplement Council (NASC) in 2021. The company oversees and manages the entire manufacturing process and works with organic farms with sustainable practices in eastern Colorado. Pet Releaf sources all its hemp from USDA Certified Organic hemp farms and is also very transparent with its product testing. All of its batches of full-spectrum hemp extract are tested to have THC concentrations that don’t exceed .3%.

Which Types of Pets is Pet Releaf Best Suited For?

Pet Releaf is most suitable for pets that have chronic conditions. It produces formulas that specifically address joint pain, digestive issues, and situational stress. The products have dosages that are appropriate for different pet sizes. You can find products with dosages for cats and small dogs, medium-sized dogs, large dogs, and horses.

Pet Releaf also makes Daily Releaf Edibites and oils, which contain the smallest dosage of CBD out of all its edible products. The Daily Releaf line of products is meant for general wellness and may provide relief for mild digestion and skin and coat issues. It can also support and strengthen the immune system.

Just keep in mind that Pet Releaf products aren’t meant to cure specific health conditions. So, if your pet has a more complex or severe illness, it’s best to consult your veterinarian before trying out any CBD pet products.

Discussion of the Primary Ingredients (Good and Bad)

Pet Releaf uses many high-quality ingredients in its chews and oils. Here are some common ingredients you’ll find.

top view of the pet releaf products their packaging

Full Spectrum Hemp Extract and CBD Oil

Pet Releaf uses USDA-Certified Organic full spectrum hemp extract and CBD oil that’s sourced from sustainable farms in eastern Colorado. Some CBD oil can contain very small amounts of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), which is the psychoactive component found in the cannabis plant. However, it doesn’t have THC concentrations that exceed .3%. So, it’s safe for pets to consume, and they won’t experience any psychoactive effects.

While research still has to be done to draw definitive conclusions on the benefits of CBD oil and animals, some research shows that CBD’s anti-inflammatory properties can be used to alleviate arthritis pain¹. CBD oil may also help reduce the frequency of seizures¹ in dogs.

Different dogs can have varying reactions to CBD. Some may be able to experience the benefits, while others may not show any signs of change or relief. There aren’t any definite side effects¹ associated with CBD for animals, but some may experience dry mouth, lowered blood pressure, and drowsiness.

    Organic Herbs

Pet Releaf incorporates nutritious herbs into many of its chews. One ingredient is ginger¹, which has anti-inflammatory properties and antioxidants and may help reduce oxidative stress. Noni¹ is another ingredient that has anti-inflammatory properties and can help with relieving joint pain. Pet Releaf also uses chamomile¹, as it can help with improving digestion.

    Organic Binding Agents

Pet Releaf’s chews are soft and easy for dogs to bite and swallow. Most contain organic cultured rice flour and organic tapioca syrup, which help bind and keep them intact. Rice flour is a good source of protein¹, but it also has a lot of carbohydrates.

Tapioca syrup can be a slightly healthier alternative to sugar because it’s low in carbs¹, but it’s still a natural sweetener and shouldn’t be consumed in excess. So, it’s important only to feed your dog the number of chews recommended by Pet Releaf or your veterinarian.

    Organic Recipes

One of the great things about Pet Releaf is that all the recipes for their chews and oils are USDA-Certified Organic. They also have relatively simple ingredient lists, so they’re easy for pets to digest. You’ll also have an easy time identifying any potential allergens. Fortunately, Pet Releaf products don’t contain common food allergens for animals, and most chews are also wheat-free.

    Trial Sizes Available

Pet Releaf produces high-quality, premium products that are relatively expensive. It’s understandable for people to feel hesitant about purchasing a product that their pets may not end up enjoying or experience any health benefits.

Fortunately, Pet Releaf offers smaller travel-sized bags for their chews that are sold at a cheaper price. So, you can test out each product without spending as much, and you won’t be left with a full-sized bag of chews if it doesn’t seem to affect your pets.

    Variety of Formulas

Pet Releaf offers a good selection of formulas that help address common health concerns for pets. It currently offers the following formulas:

    • Calming
    • Hip and joint
    • Digestive
    • General wellness

You can also find CBD-infused skin and coat products. Pet Releaf has CBD-infused shampoos and conditioners and a soothing balm for skin and paws.

    Limited Options for Some Pets

Dogs will benefit the most from Pet Releaf, as most of the company’s products are for dogs. You can find plenty of chews, capsules, oils, and grooming products that dogs can enjoy. Pet Releaf has oils made specifically for cats, but it currently doesn’t offer chews or capsules for cats. When it comes to horses, you’ll find two types of oils that address situational stress and joint pain.

Pet Releaf is a growing company, so we anticipate its line of products will expand. There’s the possibility that more products will become available for more types of pets.

Reviews of the Pet Releaf Products We Tried

Here are our reviews of some of the most popular products made by Pet Releaf.

    1. Stress Releaf 300 mg Hemp Oil

Stress Releaf 300 mg Hemp Oil

This oil is formulated to help pets calm down and manage situational stress. It only contains natural ingredients, including full-spectrum hemp extract and organic ashwagandha. Ashwagandha is a medicinal herb known to help reduce stress and anxiety¹.

The oil has a mild scent, and it’s easy to feed it to your dog. All you have to do is use the dropper and keep your pet’s mouth open for just an instant while you squeeze the dropper, and your pet won’t be able to spit anything back out. The dropper also comes with measurement markers to ensure you give your dog the right dosage. However, a lot of air bubbles tend to get trapped in the dropper, so it can take several tries to get the right amount.

    Pros
    • Uses natural ingredients for stress relief
    • Mildly scented
    • Easy to feed to pets
    Cons
    • Dropper tends to trap a lot of air bubbles

    2. Daily Releaf Small Breed Edibites

    Daily Releaf Small Breed Edibites

This Daily Releaf chew is a great place to start if you’re new to CBD pet products. It contains a lower dosage of CBD, and it’s meant to be used as a daily supplement to support long-term health. Dogs can experience a variety of health benefits with this chew, including mobility support and improved digestion. They may feel calmer, and you may also notice healthier skin and coat.

The chew is flavored with organic blueberry powder and organic dried cranberries to be more palatable to dogs. However, not all dogs may enjoy eating it if they tend to be picky and prefer more savory, meaty flavors.

    Pros
    • Supports long-term health
    • Dogs can experience a variety of health benefits
    • Flavored with natural ingredients
    Cons
    • May not be palatable for dogs that prefer savory treats

    3. Skin & Paw Releaf

    Skin & Paw Releaf

The Skin and Paw Releaf balm is infused with CBD and designed to address various skin issues. It can be used for itchiness, bug bites, and skin allergies. You can also apply it on the nose and paw pads to keep them well-moisturized.

The formula is made with gentle ingredients, so it’s safe to use on pets with sensitive skin. It absorbs well, so you don’t have to worry about it leaving oily streaks on your floors or having your pet slip when it walks.

The balm comes in one size, and it may be a bit too large to apply on the paws of cats and small dogs. You’ll most likely have to thoroughly massage the balm on their paw pads yourself to ensure that it coats every part of the paw.

    Pros
    • Addresses many different skin issues
    • Gentle formula for sensitive skin
    • Absorbs well
    Cons
    • Size may be too large for cats and small dogs

    Our Experience with Pet Releaf

I had a positive experience with most of the Pet Releaf products. I tested them out on my adult Cavapoo. She has a sensitive stomach and is also a high-energy dog, so I was especially looking forward to trying out the Stress Releaf Edibites and oil and the Digestive Releaf Edibites.

I was pleasantly surprised by how easy it was to use the oils. The droppers had measurement markers on them, so I could consistently give my dog the correct amounts. While my dog doesn’t have separation anxiety, she does get pretty sad and will act a little clingy when she knows I’m about to leave the house.

Pet Releaf doesn’t make any claims that its products can modify extreme pet behaviors. However, I did notice my dog was calmer after I gave her the Stress Releaf oil the night before and about an hour before I had to leave the house. So, I would definitely add it to the routine I already have with her before leaving her home alone for a few hours.

I was a little unimpressed with the Digestive Releaf Edibites. My Cavapoo is extremely picky, so I wasn’t surprised when she refused to try them. I’d love to see more savory flavors introduced to the Edibites line and would be open to purchasing Digestive Releaf Edibites with Pet Releaf’s already existing peppered bacon flavor.

I was most surprised by Pet Releaf’s Skin & Paw Releaf balm. It came at the perfect time, as we’re in the fall season, and the air is getting drier. My dog’s paws tend to get dry, especially once we start walking in the snow. This balm was easy to apply, and I was impressed with how it absorbed quickly and didn’t leave any oily residue. I also noticed my dog licking her paws less frequently, and her paws were a lot softer after just a few applications.

Overall, I saw positive results with Pet Releaf’s oils and balm. My dog wasn’t overly enthusiastic about the oils, but the flavors didn’t seem to bother her much, as she wasn’t very fussy when I’d feed them to her with the dropper. The oils aren’t silver bullets for challenging behaviors, but they supported our routine well, and my dog was noticeably calmer.

The chews just weren’t tasty for my picky Cavapoo, so I’m unable to provide a fair assessment of how effective they are. However, based on how well the oils worked, I wouldn’t be surprised if the chews also perform well.

    Conclusion

When it comes to pet wellness products, it’s important to have realistic expectations and not view them as miracle cures. They can be helpful supplements to add to a healthy routine that you’ve already established for your pet.

With that being said, I’d recommend giving Pet Releaf a try. While its products may be slightly more expensive, they’re worth the investment. You’re guaranteed high-quality products that have gone through rigorous quality control, and they’re excellent natural alternatives that can improve your pet’s well-being and quality of life. It’ll be difficult to find another brand that matches Pet Releaf’s quality and sells at a cheaper price. You can also always begin with their smaller travel packs and see how they work for your pet before making a bigger, long-term purchase.
