We give the Sound Oasis Pet Sound Therapy System a rating of 4.9 out of 5 stars.
Pets come in all shapes, sizes, and personalities. Some exuding an air of confidence while others are slightly more nervous. If you happen to have an anxious pet, you know how difficult it can be to keep them sleeping calmly. For my dog Lorelei, the sounds of the street, thunderstorms, loud Santa Ana winds, and critters bustling around outside can keep her awake at night. My solution was to keep the TV running with some random show to drown out sound, but that keeps me up as well.
Using the Sound Oasis Pet Sound Therapy System was a far more practical and effective alternative. In its adorable and discreet size, this little Bluetooth speaker packs quite a mighty punch in the most soothing of ways – emanating a rotation of 20 calming sounds to help Lorelei drift to sleep and keep her there for the entirety of the night. But of the many touted pet sleep therapy systems on the market, how does Sound Oasis hold up? I had the chance to find out!

Our Experience
To explain how I tested the Sound Oasis Pet Sound Therapy System and how I discovered the results that I did, I need to quickly fill in a backstory that happened to me a week before writing this review:
I was delayed in getting this little speaker because a fire ripped through our area of Southern California, and I had to evacuate my dog, my parrot, and myself in the very early hours of the morning. Sirens blaring, police officers and firefighters rushed to doors to get residents out. My animals were scared and didn’t understand what was happening. After being evacuated for a week and a half, we were fortunate to find that our home did not burn down, and some days later were able to move back in after remediation completed their job. That is when I was able to pick up the speaker from the mail and start testing it out.
My parrot has always been a hard-to-settle-down animal, screeching at the top of his lungs because he loves the sound of his own voice, and this only intensified with his anger at being displaced for reasons he couldn’t understand. My poor dog, who has been anxious ever since being adopted from the shelter, had become even more so during this ordeal. The first time we slept in the home was difficult, to say the least, with my dog being unable to settle down all night and my parrot screaming into the wee hours of the morning.
The following day, in my sleep-deprived state, I unboxed the speaker and prayed that it would work for us. The Sound Oasis Pet Sound Therapy System is a tiny little thing, fitting easily in the palm of my hand. The package included the speaker, a USB cable to charge the speaker, a booklet educating on pet sound therapy, and a user manual. The speaker is so simple to use that the user manual didn’t really need to be there!
All one has to do is open up the latch in the back of the speaker, which houses the SD card with the preloaded 20 sounds, plug the USB cable in, and that’s it. You can either charge the speaker and play it off of a charge (which the company says lasts 4 – 5 hours; mine lasted a good 5 hours) or play it while plugged in for an indefinite amount of time. The front of the speaker has three buttons: volume up, volume down, and the center power/menu / select/pause button.
I was highly impressed with the sound quality coming from such a tiny speaker; as someone who enjoys music and has some audio quality knowledge, there were no muffling issues. No matter how loud I turned up the speaker, the sound remained consistently crisp and clear, with no bass or booming issues.
I started by first playing the speaker for my parrot, as he was screeching his little head off during the daytime. I flipped through some of the sounds, waited for his response, and realized that he immensely enjoyed the Woodland and Waterfall sounds. When I began playing Woodland, he got very quiet and sleepy, puffing up (which is a positive sign in a parrot) and gently preening himself. I could see his body language change quite abruptly, and this continued to be a repetitive pattern every time I played the sounds for him. 10/10, absolutely works on a Senegal parrot!
In the night, I would plug the speaker into a USB port and play some soothing included music for my pup. She really enjoyed the Rest Time melody in particular and reacted similarly to my parrot – her body language relaxed and she began to relax more and more as the music progressed. I watched a dog whose shoulders and ears remained tense the night before to one that softened her entire body and drifted to sleep. The ability of the speaker to drown out outside noise was so impressive, and I found myself soothed by its sounds as well! My dog slept through the night without waking up, which continued to be the case the following nights that I used the Sound Oasis Pet Sound Therapy System.
One of the days, I had to take my pup with me on an errand run as the drive was going to be a couple of hours long. Because of the speaker’s small size and USB charging capability, I decided to take it with me in the car and see how it did. Lo and behold, it worked in the moving vehicle just as well as in my bedroom – Lorelei drifted back off to sleep rather than running restlessly from window to window in the backseat!
They say that music is one of the only art forms that engages your entire brain, so I have no doubt that it can push soothing properties onto rambunctious or anxious pets. My own two animals are living proof that the Sound Oasis Pet Sound Therapy System works – and I can finally sleep at night, even after a traumatic life event.

Build Quality and Portability
The Sound Oasis Pet Sound Therapy System is 2.25” x 2.5” and weighs half a pound, making it very small and travel-friendly (it easily fits into a purse or backpack pocket).
The speaker can be played while plugged in; otherwise, it is useable on battery. The battery only lasts a maximum of five hours, which is shorter than some other small speakers on the market. The speakers take approximately two to three hours to charge fully.
The build materials are aluminum housing and an ABS plastic base, which keeps it durable. The speaker is painted in a matte black and has a stylish design.

Even though this speaker appears small, the sound quality is incredible. This hand-size speaker packs quite a punch and efficiently eliminates ambient sound. The speaker features 20 sounds built into its SD card:

Bluetooth, SD Card, and App Capability
The speaker can be controlled via Bluetooth on your smartphone and utilized like a regular speaker (playing the built-in sounds or audio from your phone).
The speaker comes with a preloaded SD card, which can be removed and placed onto your computer to load in more sounds.
There is also a Sound Oasis app that is a great companion to the speaker system, as it expands some of the speaker’s features. The app offers 15 additional sounds, the ability to overlay a heartbeat or a purring sound onto any of the preloaded sounds, a timer that will shut off the device anywhere between five minutes and two hours, and a 12-band graphic equalizer to control frequency levels to make adjustment for your pet’s ears.
Easy-To-Use
Although an instruction manual is included with the speaker, it is quite intuitive and straightforward. Just three simple buttons operate the entire device, with more options available if connected to a phone via Bluetooth or the Sound Oasis app. No assembly is required.
Charging is as simple as plugging into the back of the speaker and then plugging the speaker into a USB port. As mentioned before, the speaker can be operated while it is charging. Unplugged, the speaker lasts approximately five hours.

Is the Sound Oasis Pet Sound Therapy System a Good Value?
To me, both good sleep and keeping the peace are priceless features. It’s hard to put a value on calmness. But if we are putting a dollar amount in front of these perks, then I would say that the Sound Oasis Pet Sound Therapy System is a very reasonable price for all that you receive.
At $49.99 (and free shipping) you get the device, an SD card with 20 doctor-created sounds, and access to the free Sound Oasis app. Although this price might seem jarring initially when looking at the small stature of the speaker, it is actually on the lower cost side of the small speaker market (with many speakers of a similar size and equivalent sound quality averaging at around $60 – $120).
All in all, an excellent value.
How We Tested
The Sound Oasis Pet Sound Therapy System was tested on a 20-year-old Senegal parrot and a 9-year-old mixed-breed dog.
- For the parrot, the speaker was played from 4 pm to about 9 pm. He tends to screech these hours, but I need him to calm down for sleep. This was consistent over several days and the results remained the same: he calmed down.
- My dog’s bedtime is around 9 pm, the perfect time to take the speaker from the parrot’s area and plug it in near her kennel and dog bed (she has two sleeping spots). The speaker began its soothing music once plugged in and stayed on until I woke at 8 am. Lorelei slept through the night each time.
- The speaker was also used during one long car ride (a four-hour round trip), which kept my dog calm throughout the drive.

Conclusion
Although my situation is considered unique because of the recent trauma, I found that this speaker really made a difference and helped all three of us be more sound in our home. The best way to test something is when that something is really needed, under extreme pressure, and this was certainly the case. I am grateful for the peace that the Sound Oasis Pet Sound Therapy System has given to my animals, and I would highly recommend this to anyone I know.
