National Beagle Day is on April 22nd every year. This day is set aside to celebrate Beagles, a relatively common breed initially bred for hunting purposes. This hound is known for being cheerful, laidback, and family-oriented. Therefore, they are great pets for families and those with kids. This day is set aside for celebrating just that!

Of course, there is no set way to celebrate this day. Many people donโ€™t celebrate it, as it isnโ€™t as popular as other holidays. However, you may find discounts at local animal shelters and pet supply stores.

Furthermore, youโ€™ll also find some events on this day celebrating beagles, especially in more populated areas. Festivals and similar events might happen on this day, so we highly recommend looking at your local area.

Even if there isnโ€™t an event happening near you, you can always join in the fun online. In many ways, this is more of an online event than an in-person one, as Beagle-lovers are spread worldwide. If you own a Beagle, you can treat them on this day to a doggie treat or memorable trip.

This day is whatever you make of it. Because there are few beagle-related events, how you celebrate is mainly up to you. Here are some ideas to consider.

How to Celebrate National Beagle Day

There are several ways you can celebrate national Beagle day. Because this tends to be a low-impact day, celebrating is primarily up to you. You can join a local event if you have one. However, for the majority of Beagle-lovers that donโ€™t have an event nearby, here are some things to consider:

  • Organize Your Own Event. Beagles are a relatively popular dog breed. Therefore, there are likely other Beagle-owners in your area. For this reason, you may consider organizing your own local event, even if it is just a meet-and-greet at the local dog park. These events are a great socialization opportunity for Beagles, especially since most of these dogs get along with others pretty well.
  • Stock Up on Beagle-Related Merchandise. Many pet-oriented businesses may sell Beagle-related merchandise on this day. Check for small businesses and artisans celebrating this day with limited-time products.
  • Consider Donating to a Good Cause. There are many Beagle-related charities out there. If you have some extra cash, consider donating to one of these charities on this day.
  • Attend an Online Event. For the most part, celebrating this day still takes place online so we recommend looking online for events. Often, you can post your own Beagle pictures and videos under the yearโ€™s hashtag for the event, which will allow you to connect with others that love Beagles.
  • Treat Your Beagle. Of course, you donโ€™t have to focus on connecting with other Beagle-lovers on this day. Instead, you can use it to pamper your own Beagle. Perhaps take a trip to a local pet store to purchase a new toy or treat. Alternatively, you can go on a special visit to a park or local nature area.

What is So Special About Beagles?

Beagles were originally bred for hunting rabbits, so they have a great sense of smell. However, these dogs were also bred to be self-sufficient and easy to handle. Therefore, they tend to be very easygoing dogs with little maintenance. They love their people, but they arenโ€™t prone to separation anxiety like other people-oriented breeds.

Plus, they get along with just about everyone. Their smaller size makes them a good choice for families, those in apartments, and anyone looking for a great companion.

You canโ€™t mistake a Beagleโ€™s bark, either. When hunting, these dogs โ€œbay.โ€ They were bred solely to track rabbits and other animalsโ€”not catch them. Therefore, they are not stealthy when it comes to hunting at all. Instead, they are loud and signal where they are so that other dogs and their humans can find them.

Conclusion

National Beagles Day is an excellent opportunity to celebrate your Beagle. You can use this day to attend a local event or hang out online with other Beagle-lovers. While Beagles are a popular dog breed, there arenโ€™t actually that many events on this day since it is relatively new. Therefore, most of it still takes place online.

Of course, you can also use this day to celebrate your Beagle by showering them with gifts and having fun. Consider visiting a local park for a dog walk if there arenโ€™t any events in your area.
