Finding a decent all in one aquarium can be quite a challenge, we are always on the lookout for good tanks and one that keeps popping up on our radar is the biOrb Flow 30 tank but how good is it really? Let’s take a closer look to see what the tank has to offer.

The biOrb Flow seems to be quite a popular all in one aquarium. It’s small, it’s durable, and it comes with all of the major components you need to sustain a small population of fish. Let’s dive into our biOrb Flow 30 review to cover the main features, pros and cons of the tank.

Our biOrb Flow 30 Aquarium Review 2024

Let’s talk about the main features and benefits that the aquarium offers.

Durable Acrylic

One of the things that we personally think is great about the biOrb tank is that it is made out of super durable acrylic. Yes, some people like glass, which we do not have a problem with, but when it comes to beginner aquariums, acrylic is probably the ideal choice to go with.

Acrylic is much stronger than glass, has a much higher level of impact resistance, it is very clear, it does not scratch easily, and it does not distort the view either. On that same note, acrylic is also very light. The biOrb 30 is also sealed really well, which means that not only will it not smash or get scratched, but it also keeps the water exactly where it is supposed to be (we have actually done a detailed comparison of Acrylic VS Glass on this article).

A Nice Look

Aquariums need to look really nice, which is after all one of the main points of them. We like to look at aquariums and we personally think the biOrb Flow 30 has a nice visual appeal to it.

It has a sleek look that helps add to the aesthetics of any room, plus all of the major internal components like the filter are hidden so you can’t see them which is always an added bonus.

Space Friendly

We do like the fact that this aquarium is a true space saver. To be exact, this is an 8 gallon (or 30 litre) tank which means that it can easily fit pretty much anywhere in your home. Sure, it may not be able to hold all that many fish and plants on the inside (here is a guide on what fish you can house in this tank), but that is exactly what makes it good for children and small time aquarium hobbyists.

A smaller size does mean that there is less maintenance to perform. Also, the biOrb Flow is small enough to fit on most shelves, nightstands, tables, and even on your office desk too.

Easy Access

Something else that you might appreciate about the biOrb Flow aquarium is that it provides you with easy access to the fish. The whole hood/lid can come off easily, which makes cleaning the aquarium easier. That being said, even though it comes off easily, it does stay securely in place when you need it to.

The lid comes with a small hinged opening so you can easily dump some food into the aquarium without having to remove the whole lid which is handy.

Energy Efficient

Another thing that stood out for us is that the tank barely uses any energy at all. This is a very efficient aquarium one that will not affect your energy bill very much.

You may not think that this is very important because aquariums probably do not use too much energy, but rest assured that there are some models out there which will put a serious hurt on your wallet when it comes time to pay the energy bill.

Good Filtration & Oxygenation

The biOrb Flow 30 comes with a decent 5 stage filtration as well as oxygenation features too. It engages in mechanical, biological, and chemical filtration, with a nice side of water stabilization and oxygenation too. This is an air driven filtration that creates a whole lot of water flow. This, combined with the aeration stone, makes sure that there is lots of oxygen in the tank at all times.

The water flow carries the aquarium water through a series of mechanical, biological, and chemical filtration mechanisms in order to remove debris, impurities, chemicals, colors, and odors from the water. The stabilizers included also help to control the pH level in the water.

As you can see, for a small all in one aquarium, it comes with a pretty advanced filter, something we are actually quite surprised by, but delightfully so. The media all comes included in one easy to use cartridge. When it comes time to replace the media, all you have to do is remove the cartridge and replace it with a new one.

LED Lighting

This aquarium also comes with a nice built in LED light. This is perfect for providing you and your fish with some illumination. Now, this light is nothing special really but it does have some appeal.

It can’t be controlled for day or night time, and it does not have different colors, but it can be shut on or off depending on your preferences. For a small all in one aquarium, in our opinion, this is more than fine.
