Our Aqueon Quiet Flow 30 Review (2024)

Aqueon QuietFlow LED PRO Aquarium Power Filter

Just so you know, this model does come in various sizes for different aquariums. This filter comes in various sizes including ones for 10 gallon, 20 gallon, 30 gallon, 50 gallon, and 75 gallon tanks. The particular one we are discussing here today is the 30 Filter, or in other words, the one for aquariums that are 30 gallons in size.

Features & Benefits

Let’s take a detailed look at the main features that Aqueon Quiet Flow 30 brings to the table.

Triple Filtration System

The best part about the Aqueon Quiet Flow 30 Aquarium Filter in our opinion is that it is a triple action filtration system. In other words, it engages in all 3 major types of filtration to help your aquarium water be as clean, clear, and free of contaminants as possible.

It features a dense floss section which effectively removes particles and other solid debris. Second, it comes with a bio-holster that allows beneficial bacteria to grow which help to remove ammonia and nitrites from the water.

We do like this bio-filtration feature because there is no wheel involved, which means that there are no moving parts which can break down. The filter also comes with an activated carbon filter for getting rid of toxins, odors, and discoloration.

Diffuser

The Aqueon Quiet Flow 30 filter also comes with a quiet diffuser. This diffuser helps to remove even more toxins from the water. At the same time, it also helps to provide extra oxygen in order to allow your fish to breather. Any aquarium with a big bio-load would do well with the oxygenation capabilities of the Aqueon Quiet Flow 30.

LED Light

This filter comes with an LED light which indicates when you need to change or clean the filters. Yes, aquarium filters need to be cleaned regularly and changed on occasion so we felt this was a helpful and needed feature so you know exactly when leaning and changes need to be performed.

Hang On Back

This filter is actually a hang on back filter. Now, this is a bit of an odd one, because it does hang on the back of your aquarium, but the majority of the mechanism is actually on the inner side of the aquarium.

The vast majority of the Aqueon Quiet Flow 30 filter will not be submerged in water. This is good in our opinion because it means that the filter does not take up much space in the aquarium, thus saving as much room as possible for fish and plants.

No Prime?

This is an internal filter which is submerged in the water. In other words, there is no need to prime it. You don’t have to fill it with water or do any other priming. Simply place the filter in the aquarium and it is ready to go.

The internal pump comes with another benefit too of reduced noise. Having the pump located on the inside of the casing helps to greatly reduce the noise it produces, something which both you and your fish will definitely appreciate. Something else that helps reduce noise is how the water return is located right above the surface of the water, thus minimizing splashing and the noise caused by splashing.

Easy Setup

Setting the Aqueon Quiet Flow 30 up is nice and easy. Simply place it over the back of the aquarium, attach the necessary tubing, and let it do its job. Nobody wants to be spending hours scratching with the setup so we did like this about the filter.

Flow Rate

The final thing we felt worth mentioning about the Aqueon Quiet Flow 30 is that it has a much higher flow rate than other filters of the same size. This particular model of the is intended for 30 gallon aquariums but it is available is smaller and larger options to cater for different tank sizes.

This is pretty standard, but what is not standard is how this model can handle over 200 gallons of water per hour. This means that the Aqueon 30 filter can process the water in a 30 gallon aquarium more than 6 times per hour. This results in clear, clean, and healthy water.
