The cost of the portraits ranges from $89.00 to over $1440.00 and depends on several factors, including portrait size, number of characters, medium, and finishing option. The pricing is comparable to, and in some cases, cheaper than competitor companies offering similar services. PortraitFlip also splits your payment into two parts, so you pay 30% to initiate the painting process and then pay the second half once you approve the painting to initiate the shipping process.

What to Expect

After your order is placed, you will be paired with a Happiness Manager. The Happiness Manager updates you on the portrait’s progress and answers any questions you may have during the painting and delivery process. The next step is digital customization, which consists of cropping the image to fit your desired size and personalizing the portrait to your liking. This is also the step where special editing requests are implemented, such as removing or changing the background of your photo.

Once you’ve approved the digital photo, the painting process starts. This is the longest part of the process (understandably so!) and can take anywhere from 8 to 15 days depending on your selected service. When your painting is ready, your Happiness Manager will email you a preview of the painting and you can either approve the painting for shipment or request revisions.

If you want your portrait framed, you can purchase a finishing option before approving the final painting. If not, you’re good to go! Just submit your final payment and the shipping process will start. Once shipped, you should expect your painting to be delivered within 5-10 days.

The gallery-wrapped option is limited to oil and acrylic mediums and involves the canvas being stretched and secured to create an invisible frame. Our Experience With PortraitFlip

I ordered a portrait of my Goldendoodle, Micah, from PortraitFlip and my experience was amazing! From the time the order was placed until the portrait arrived at my door, I was thoroughly impressed with the company, their communication, and the final product.

For the ordering process, I chose a medium, number of characters, and portrait size, and then uploaded my photo. Overall, it was a smooth and easy process. The longest part for me was deciding on a medium since there were so many great options to choose from. I ended up deciding on an oil painting, which is one of their most popular styles.

For the digital photo, I chose a picture of Micah lying in the grass. Micah is a bundle of love with a goofy personality, and he’s known for being an old soul with expressive eyes. The picture I chose speaks to his wise spirit, and the artist perfectly captured his soulful expression and calm demeanor.

When I saw the portrait for the first time, I was shocked at how realistic it looked and impressed by the intricate details. Micah has wavy fur that curls in all directions, which I can imagine is not the easiest to replicate in an oil painting. But the artist perfectly captured every detail down to the tree branches and paneled fence in the background. If there’s one word I would use to describe the portrait it would be life-like. It’s as if the artist created a replica of the digital photo and a near hologram of Micah. Before hanging the painting on the wall, my family and I kept mistaking the portrait for Micah himself! If that’s not a testament to the quality of the painting and the artist’s ability, I don’t know what is.

When I ordered the portrait, I had a special editing request. In the original photo, Micah had several tags on his collar. I loved the photo but thought the tags were a little distracting. I requested the tags be removed from Micah’s collar, and the team at PortraitFlip happily edited them out. They also sent me a preview of the photo to approve after the edits were made to make sure I liked the photo. PortraitFlip also offers unlimited edits to your portrait for free. While I loved my portrait the first time around, I thought this was an amazing perk to an already amazing service.

And what’s not to love about a Happiness Manager? With the Happiness Manager, communication was open and transparent, and I was updated throughout the entire process. It was great to be included in every step of the process and I appreciated being updated about the progress of my painting.
