What Is the Maxbone x Prince Backpack? How Does It Work?
Maxbone has taken their “Go Everywhere Backpack”, collaborated with the tennis brand Prince, and created a new color of their “Go Everywhere Backpack” with a laptop/tennis racket pocket at the back.
This pet carrier turned backpack can hold small dogs or cats up to 17 pounds, has thick, soft neoprene straps and sides, removable (and washable) faux sherpa liners, a chest strap for extra stability and safety, and an internal leash for your pet. It includes side and front pockets for everything you might need, such as a key ring, card holders, the laptop pocket with a strap to hold the handle of a tennis racket, and multiple view windows for your pet, including one at the front that zips open to let them poke their head out.
With this backpack, you can bring your pet with you in style for some exercise, remote work, hanging with friends, and any errand in between.

Maxbone x Prince Backpack Pricing
A Maxbone x Prince Backpack will set you back $230. While expensive compared to other pet carrier backpacks, for a luxury brand backpack or pet carrier, this cost is consistent with the market. Maxbone has made every effort it seems to make a high-quality, functional bag that you can use for years.

Sturdy and Durable Quality
This bag is sturdy, far more than any other backpack carrier I’ve ever used. The sides do not collapse in on the pet even a little, even if they’re moving around inside. The straps are wide and comfortable, and the chest strap is helpful for comfort and stability while carrying a pet. My cat is only 9 pounds, but his weight wasn’t awkward at all while walking, thanks to the attention to detail in the design. The thick, high-quality zippers are unlikely to fail over time which is important with the chronic stress on them from your pet’s weight and hair that will accumulate.
Soft and Comfortable Materials
The neoprene used for the sides and straps of this bag are thick, plush, and soft to the touch. It feels fantastic to handle and looks great. I also like that they’ve risen above the temptation to use leather and real sherpa for the liners like some other luxury brands have done.
Backpack Color Variety
The color choice for this bag is a neutral, soothing gray. While this exact backpack is only available in this color, Maxbone has a similar backpack carrier in black, leaving two color options between them. I do wish more colors were available; for households with multiple pets, it isn’t uncommon to wish to color code their gear. That being said, this bag has plenty of space to customize if you wish.

Is the Maxbone x Prince Backpack a Good Value?
I honestly can’t believe I’m saying this, but I do think this backpack carrier is a good value. I’ve used at least three other popular backpack carriers on the market, and none of them held a candle to this bag in terms of quality and looks. Additionally, this bag is so well designed that without adding any real weight, it’s roomier for the pet than any others I’ve worked with and provides utility pockets so you can take everything you need for yourself and your pet all in one bag, which I’ve never seen before.
The quality of the materials indicates the bag is designed to last and would make a good investment if you regularly want to bring your pet somewhere without needing a shoulder bag or handheld carrier, both of which are far less convenient for getting around. I’ve said this about Maxbone before, but they lead the market in pairing form and function for pet gear, in my opinion, and this backpack is no exception.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
How durable is the Maxbone x Prince Backpack?
This backpack carrier has been designed to last. All tension points are thick and reinforced, and the carrier remains supported and open for your pet no matter how you twist, bend, or place the bag, even on its back.
Is the Maxbone x Prince Backpack worth the price?
Yes, if this backpack is within your budget, you won’t find another backpack carrier this well-made, stylish, useful, and comfortable for your pet.
Is the Maxbone x Prince Backpack safe for my pet?
Yes, and here is why!
My cat tends to get anxious after about 20 minutes in a soft-sided carrier of any type; something about being able to push against the sides leads to an obsession with getting out. After an hour of adventuring in this bag, he was still calm and content, and I think this is because the zippers are so strong that he didn’t discover a good spot to try to push his nose through. This is a common concern with any carrier that has zippers closed but with the way these nests, your pet won’t be busting out any time soon.
The backpack also comes with an internal leash, just in case. The backpack itself rests stably on the shoulders and has a chest strap to prevent slips and falls.
There are three thick meshed “windows” for your pet to see through and to allow air to circulate. I left a thermometer in the bag with my cat for our first one-hour adventure and checked it at the end; the temperature in the backpack was about 5°F warmer than the outside temperature, which is great.
Now my cat is quite small, which leaves a lot of room for air to circulate, has a short coat, and it was cloudy and only about 70°F outside. I would caution that above 80°F outside, I would keep an eye on how long my pet was in the bag and provide ice packs occasionally to be safe from the heat. The light color of this backpack helps maintain safe temperatures for your pet.

Our Experience With the Maxbone x Prince Backpack
I really enjoyed using this backpack. There was no strain on my back after an hour of use, and it didn’t feel clumsy or unwieldy to move around in. My little 9-pound cat, who cannot see, was still “peering” through the windows taking in all the scents and sounds, and didn’t seem at all bothered by the movement of the bag, the size, or the temperature. The backpack looked phenomenal, and I repeatedly was approached when people realized it was also a carrier, commenting on how great it looked and that they couldn’t even tell a pet was inside at first. The sensory input of the items I handle is important to me, and this backpack feels so lush that you can’t help but be impressed. I’m planning to pack my cat and laptop with me to go do remote work outside in parks when the weather is nice, and using this backpack adds a little dopamine to an otherwise unexciting work activity that I appreciate.
Conclusion
This is the best backpack carrier I’ve encountered at any price point. It leaves me feeling secure in my cat’s safety and comfort, would work well for small dogs, too, is comfortable to use, and is useful. I have always needed to use other people, pockets, or an additional bag for everything when using a backpack carrier, but the Maxbone x Prince Backpack has pockets for everything I need and then some. I enjoy having a stylish option for pet transport and wish there were more options for items like this.
I do also wish more colors were available (gray-scale isn’t my thing) but do appreciate that a light color is safest for my pet in direct sunlight. I am unfortunately not a tennis player, but this bag is clearly built for a variety of functions. If the Maxbone x Prince Backpack is within your budget, I highly recommend giving it a try.
