Our Final Verdict

We give Pawstruck a rating of 4.75 out of 5 stars.

Pawstruck is a dog treat and wellness brand based in Southern California. It sells all-natural dog chews, treats, supplements, and grooming products. All of its chews and treats either use a single ingredient or have limited ingredient lists composed of only natural foods. Along with omitting the use of filler ingredients, Pawstruck chews and treats also don’t contain any artificial preservatives or chemicals. This makes them a great option for dogs with sensitive stomachs. Pawstruck’s chews are also made in various lengths and shapes, so dogs of all sizes can find something that they can enjoy safely.

As an owner of a dog with several food sensitivities, I always approach new brands with skepticism and caution. After having my dog try out a few of its most popular products, I’m overall impressed by how she was able to enjoy them safely. My honest review of Pawstruck is here to help you determine if your dog may also benefit from Pawstruck chews and treats.

Who Makes Pawstruck and Where Is It Produced?

Pawstruck was founded in 2014 by Kyle Goguen, and its company headquarters is in Southern California. The company began with the motivation to increase the availability of safe, natural dog treats and sell them at affordable prices.

Today, Pawstruck sources its ingredients from both domestic and international partners that use ethical and sustainable farming practices. As a result, the brand has curated a high-quality selection of natural dog chews and treats that are free of additives or chemicals. All of its products are shipped from its warehouse in Kansas.

Which Types of Dogs Is Pawstruck Best Suited For?

Pawstruck makes products for dogs of all sizes and life stages. It also categorizes its chews by the type of chewer a dog can be and lists chew styles as aggressive, moderate, or passive. So, many different kinds of dogs can enjoy a Pawstruck chew.

Since Pawstruck uses very limited ingredients and omits artificial ingredients and preservatives, many dogs with food allergies or sensitive stomachs can enjoy its chews and treats. Pawstruck products are viable options for dogs that love to chew and gnaw while requiring restrictive diets.

Discussion of the Primary Ingredients (Good and Bad)

    Beef

Most Pawstruck chews are made with beef products. You can find beef bully sticks, beef tendons, cow ears, cow hooves, and cow tail treats cut in various pieces so that dogs of all sizes can enjoy them. These types of products promote dental health as plaque gets removed from dogs’ teeth as they gnaw and chew.

Beef is also an excellent source of protein, and your dog can experience several health benefits from consuming products with beef collagen. Some studies have shown that bovine collagen can help improve and maintain bone, joint, and skin health.

    Pork

Pork products are used in a good number of Pawstruck chews and treats, including pork skin, pig ears, and pig snouts. These products are a considerable alternative for dogs with beef allergies. Pork is another excellent source of protein, and it’s also rich in zinc, selenium, and vitamins B12 and B6. Pig snouts are also a great source of protein while being low in calories.

    Yak Milk

Yak milk is highly nutritious and an excellent source of protein, calcium, and iron. It’s generally safe for most dogs to eat, but it does contain more fat than cow milk. It’s also important to note that yak chews can be very hard and end up damaging some dogs’ teeth. So, dogs must be supervised whenever they’re chewing on a yak chew, and they should only be given yak chews that are appropriately sized for them.

    Cow Milk

Pawstrucks’ yak chew products also contain cow milk. Cow milk is safe for dogs when given in small quantities, but keep in mind that dairy products are also one of the main sources of food intolerances for dogs. Cow milk is a good source of calcium, phosphorus, and vitamin D, but as many dogs are susceptible to being lactose-intolerant, they may have difficulty digesting cow milk.

    Widely Available and Easily Accessible

You can purchase all of Pawstruck products through the brand’s website. Some products are also sold through online retailers, including Amazon and Chewy. While Pawstruck doesn’t have brick-and-mortar shops, you may be able to find a limited selection of products at your local Target.

Pawstruck has fairly standard shipping and delivery rates. Orders are processed within 1–3 business days, and you can expect to receive your order about 2–7 business days after it’s been shipped.

    Multiple Savings Opportunities

Pawstruck works to keep its products relatively affordable. Its chews and treats are long-lasting, and most have shelf lives of between 24–48 months. So, one bag of chews can last you quite some time.

Pawstruck also has a VIP Rewards Program that allows you to earn points every time you shop. It also sends member discounts and provides incentives for referrals. Every once in a while, VIP Rewards Program members may have opportunities to receive a free product. You can also receive free shipping for all orders above $99 and all other shipments have a flat rate of $7.

    Environmentally Conscious Business

If shopping consciously is an important priority for you, Pawstruck is a great option. Pawstruck is mindful of its environmental impact and carbon footprint and works actively to be a business that reduces waste and minimizes energy use. Its animal products are made with responsibly raised beef, pork, and lamb. Many of the treats use up animal parts not commonly consumed in the US to reduce waste.

To reduce landfill waste, Pawstruck sells Bizarre Bargain Bags, which contain chews and treats that may not meet the size or appearance requirements of its regular products. Rather than throwing them away, Pawstruck will sell a mixed bag of these products at a discounted price. Along with reducing landfill waste, Bizarre Bargain Bags enable dog owners to purchase a wide variety of chews and treats for their dogs with just one order.

Pawstruck is also mindful of using eco-friendly packaging whenever it can. Its products are shipped using packaging that meet Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) or Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI) standards when possible.

    Makes Mostly Beef Products

While Pawstruck products are made with limited ingredients and natural foods, dogs with beef allergies have significantly fewer options. Most Pawstruck chews and treats consist of beef and pork products. As the most common food allergen for dogs are proteins from dairy and beef, it can be difficult to find a Pawstruck product that dogs with beef allergies can enjoy. There are some yak chews and products that use lamb and chicken, but the options aren’t as expansive as products containing beef or pork.

Reviews of the Pawstruck Products We Tried

Here’s a more thorough look at some of the Pawstruck products I’ve received:

    1. Pawstruck 24” Straight Bully Sticks

    Pawstruck 24” Straight Bully Sticks

The Pawstruck 24” Straight Bully Stick only consists of one ingredient—beef pizzle, which is made of real beef muscle. This bully stick is 100% fully digestible and doesn’t contain any artificial flavors or preservatives. It has a shelf life of 36 months and is designed for medium, large, and giant-sized dogs.

Each Pawstruck 24” Straight Bully Stick is meant for long-lasting use. It’s extremely rich in protein, so it’s important to moderate how much of the chew your dog eats every day. Eating too much can lead to an upset stomach, so dogs should never eat one chew in one sitting.

    Pros
    • Beef pizzle is the only ingredient
    • No artificial flavors or preservatives
    • Shelf life of 36 months
    • Long-lasting design
    Cons
    • High protein levels can cause upset stomach

    2. Yak Cheese Puffs

    Yak Cheese Puffs

Pawstruck’s Yak Cheese Puffs are a fun take on the traditional yak chew. These chews contain just four natural ingredients and are grain-free and gluten-free. They’re also odorless, so they’re a good alternative to meat-based chews, which can have a more pungent smell.

The Yak Cheese Puffs are slightly crunchier and break apart a little more easily than regular yak chews, so they’re a safer alternative for dogs that aren’t aggressive chewers. Just keep in mind that the second ingredient is cow milk. If your dog is lactose-intolerant and can’t digest dairy products very well, it’s likely it won’t be able to eat these treats without getting an upset stomach.

    Pros
    • Limited ingredients
    • Odorless
    • Grain-free and gluten-free
    • Softer than traditional yak chews
    Cons
    • Contains dairy

    3. Beef Collagen Braids

    Beef Collagen Braids

These Beef Collagen Braids are both nutritious and fun for dogs to chew on. Each braid is made with just collagen sourced from free-range, grass-fed cattle. Collagen can help support digestion, mobility, and skin and coat health. The braids are also high in protein and low in fat.

Another benefit of these braids is that the twisted design enables them to last longer than straight dog chews. Just keep in mind that the braid can break apart as your dog reaches the end, and this can become a choking hazard. So, it’s important to be extra watchful as your dog gets close to finishing up the chew.

    Pros
    • Collagen is sourced from free-range, grass-fed cattle
    • Supports healthy digestion, mobility, and skin and coat
    • Low-fat chew
    • Long-lasting braided design
    Cons
    • Pieces can break apart and become a choking hazard

    Our Experience With Pawstruck

dog eating beef collagen braids from pawstruck

I’ve tested out a few Pawstruck chews on my own dog. She’s an 8-year-old Cavapoo and is a small-medium-sized dog. I would categorize her as a moderate chewer that typically enjoys bully sticks and jerky chews but doesn’t have an interest in bones and rawhide.

As I’ve mentioned before, I’m skeptical about new dog chews and treats because my dog has a sensitive stomach and can be a finicky eater. She usually has trouble digesting a lot of different dog treats because they contain filler ingredients. She also has a history of turning her nose away from treats with numerous ingredients.

I was a little more hopeful with Pawstruck since its products are all-natural, and most of the chews are made of a single ingredient. My dog was presented with a few of Pawstruck’s beef products and yak chews. As expected, she devoured some and couldn’t care less for others.

Out of all the beef products, my dog’s clear favorite was the Beef Collagen Braids. She chewed on them the most enthusiastically, and it was nice not to have to worry about her getting an upset stomach because they only contained one ingredient. I was also surprised by how little odor they had compared to other bully sticks she’s tried from different brands in the past. One thing to note is that while the Pawstruck bully sticks lasted for a couple of days, my dog was able to finish a Beef Collagen Braid within 30 to 45 minutes.

Unfortunately, we didn’t have as positive of an experience with the yak chews. My dog showed little interest in the Pawstruck Yak Dog Chew and gave it a couple of licks before walking back to me to ask for a Beef Collagen Braid. We had a little more luck with the Yak Cheese Puffs. I suspect it’s because they’re a little softer and easier for dogs to chew. I’m not very surprised by the lack of enthusiasm because my dog usually doesn’t care for treats that don’t contain meat. The yak chews contain yak milk, cow milk, lime juice, and salt, and these ingredients just might not be enticing enough for dogs that prefer meat-based snacks.

As a dog owner, I was happy to see my dog enjoying her Pawstruck chews, and a bonus was that it kept her busy throughout the day. As someone who works remotely from home, it was so nice being able to distract my dog with a chew while I was signed into a video conference call. She would be lying quietly next to me throughout the entire call, and I would just have to check on her occasionally to make sure the small pieces hadn’t broken off from the chew.

Overall, I would highly recommend giving Pawstruck chews and treats a chance. The beef products are flavorful, as they’ve kept my dog interested. The yak chews may be a little too hard for moderate chewers and may be more suitable for aggressive chewers.

    Conclusion

Pawstruck creates high-quality chews and treats that all kinds of dogs can enjoy. Each chew and treat is made with either a single ingredient or has limited ingredient lists, making them easily digestible for dogs with sensitive stomachs. While the majority of its products are made with beef products, you can still find a few alternatives for dogs with beef allergies.

If you have been struggling to find a reliable, long-lasting dog chew, I would recommend giving Pawstruck a try. It consistently delivers premium, all-natural dog chews that are completely safe for dogs to eat. It eliminates the guesswork about what your dog is eating and helps keep dogs happy and entertained for hours on end.
