The Importance of Choosing The Right Diet

Our pets rely on us to help them stay healthy and feeding the right diet is one of the most important aspects of that process. Cats have unique nutritional needs that differ from dogs, which is why they must eat food formulated specifically for them. Ideally, a cat should eat a high protein, low carbohydrate diet that offers complete and balanced nutrition.

Many pet cats struggle with obesity and diet is a key component of controlling and maintaining an appropriate weight. Quality cat foods provide good nutritional value for each calorie your cat consumes, allowing them to feel full by eating just the right amount they need.  Some cats may have medical conditions that require special diets, such as cats with food allergies.

If you're looking for a balanced, highly nutritious cat food made with human-grade ingredients, take a closer look at Smalls. You can even save 40% on this premium cat food by entering code HEPPER24 at checkout!

Signing up for Open Farm’s auto-ship will earn you a 5% discount on your first order. This option allows you to sign up for regular food shipments at pre-arranged intervals, from 1-8 weeks apart.

The prices we listed are from the Open Farm online store. Open Farm cat food is also available in retail stores nationwide including major chains like Walmart as well as pet shops like Pet Supplies Plus.  How Long Will a Bag Or Case of Open Farm Cat Food Last?

Every cat’s nutritional needs are different, with their age, weight, and activity level all playing a role in determining how much food they will eat. Open Farm offers an online quiz to help you determine how much food your cat should eat per day, but you should double-check with your vet as well.

To maintain their weight, Open Farm recommends that a 10-pound cat eat about ½ cup of dry food or two cartons of wet food per day. Based on that recommendation, you can expect a case of wet food to last 6 days for one cat. A 4-pound bag of dry food should last 30-40 days for a single cat.

Does My Cat Need Additional Supplements When Eating Open Farm Cat Food?

Open Farm sells several different broths and supplements designed to add additional nutrients to your cat’s diet. However, it is important to note that Open Farm diets, like all commercial cat foods, must adhere to nutritional standards that require them to contain all essential vitamins, minerals, and amino acids. The food is complete and nutritionally balanced on its own.

Healthy cats fed a balanced diet typically do not need additional supplements and could even be harmed if they receive too much of a nutrient. Always check with your veterinarian before adding anything to your cat’s diet, even something designed to be beneficial.

Conclusion

If you’re considering switching your cat to Open Farm cat food, hopefully, this price guide is helpful to you as you set your monthly cat food budget. Remember to make any food transition slowly to avoid causing any tummy trouble for your kitty. Cats can be picky eaters and if yours doesn’t seem to enjoy Open Farm, don’t try to force the issue. It’s more important for your cat to keep eating, period than eat the food you prefer.
