It’s possible to get a Lhasa Apso with a color not on the list, but there’s a good chance it’ll be a mixed breed and won’t get formal recognition.

1. Black

Who doesn’t love an all-black dog? Black is one of the most popular color options for a Lhasa Apso. You can have an all-black Lhasa Apso, but it’s also possible to have one with just a black mask or black tips throughout.


2. Black & Tan

Black and tan is another common color pattern for a Lhasa Apso. One of the most common color markings for this combination is a black coat throughout with brown on the chin and chest, but the black and tan color can manifest itself in other ways too. They can have black and tan all over and in all sorts of combinations and mixtures.


3. Cream

Cream is an absolutely adorable color for Lhasa Apsos, and while it’s similar to white, it’s not the exact same. Cream has a slightly brown hue to it, and it’s a highly sought-after color.


4. Golden

Golden is another beautiful Lhasa Apso color to pick from. These dogs can have a golden coat all over, or their golden coat can have other various markings. White markings are common with a golden coat, as are parti-color and even brindle coats.


5. Grizzle

Grizzle is a black-and-white color option, but it’s not solid black and white that turns into spots. A grizzle pattern has these colors mixed throughout, and they can have a solid grizzle coat or have spots of white and black with grizzle throughout the main portion of the body.

White is a stunning color for a Lhasa Apso, but getting a pure white pup isn’t always the easiest. It’s common for these dogs to have markings mixed with white, but it’s not impossible to find an all-white dog. Just expect to pay a little more for one if you want one with no markings.

A black mask is a very common color marking for the Lhasa Apso. It can come with many of the standard colors we highlighted above, and it does not preclude them from formal registration. The black mask covers their face, and the tips usually occur on their paws and some other areas.
