Things to Know When Owning a Mini English Goldendoodle

Food & Diet Requirements 🦴

Like most dog breeds, Mini English Goldendoodles require a high-quality, well-balanced diet based on animal protein in order to grow healthy and strong. Depending on your preferences and budget, you can either purchase store-bought food for your Mini English Doodle or make homemade meals for your furry friend.

Always remember to provide constant access to fresh drinking water, and keep in mind that these dogs may have sensitive stomachs or develop joint issues, so they may need additional vitamins or supplements in their diet. However, you should never add any supplements before discussing them with your vet.

Exercise 🐕

Mini English Goldendoodles are active animals that require plenty of physical and mental stimulation to grow healthy and develop properly. It’s best to provide them with at least 2 hours of exercise every day.

This exercise time can include activities like running, playing fetch/catch, walking, or swimming. These sessions will help your dog blow off steam while also connecting with you and strengthening your bond.

Training 🎾

It’s best to start training your Mini English Goldendoodle as early as possible; most experts agree that the training should start when your puppy is between 7 and 8 weeks old. To ensure that your puppy will grow happily and behave well in adulthood, provide plenty of opportunities for potty training, crate training, obedience training, and socialization.

These dogs are intelligent, making them quick learners. As long as you train your Mini English Goldendoodle using positive reinforcement, they will easily learn various tricks and commands.

Grooming ✂️

Mini English Goldendoodles can have two different coat types, loose-wavy or curly, so their grooming needs will vary:

  • Loose-wavy — Dogs with this type of coat require brushing every 1–2 days. Pay special attention to the areas behind their ears, on the tail base, under the limbs, and under the neck.
  • Curly — Dogs with this type of coat require daily brushing.

3 Little-Known Facts About the Mini English Goldendoodle

1. Mini English Goldendoodles Are More Laidback Than Mini American Goldendoodles

The difference in these Doodles comes from their genes: One type comes from Mini Poodles and English Golden Retrievers, while the other comes from Mini Poodles and American Golden Retrievers.

English Golden Retrievers are calmer and have a gentler temperament, which also reflects in Mini English Goldendoodles.

2. Mini English Goldendoodles Are Not Officially Recognized by Canine Clubs and Associations

Although their popularity has been on the rise, Mini English Goldendoodles are considered a newer dog breed, so they still lack formal recognition from the largest world canine clubs and associations, including the American Kennel Club and the American Canine Association.

However, fanciers of this dog breed have created their own club, called the Goldendoodle Association of North America. This association tries to define the breeder code of ethics for all Goldendoodles, including Mini English Goldendoodles.

3. Mini English Goldendoodles Are Not Hypoallergenic

Most people consider Mini English Goldendoodles to be hypoallergenic and categorize them as such. Although it’s true that this breed sheds much less than most other dog breeds, they are not actually hypoallergenic. Since there’s no such thing as an entirely hypoallergenic dog, even dogs that don’t shed that much can still cause allergies in people, as their dandruff and saliva also contain the allergens that can lead to reactions in humans.

That said, if you’re a dog lover with mild allergies, this can still be an excellent breed option for you, as their low-shedding nature should lower the chances of allergic reactions. However, ensure to have a dog-free area in your home to where you can retreat.
