Cleaning the litter box, it’s the one chore no cat owner enjoys. But maybe there’s a way to make it less of a hassle.

That’s what the founders of Kitty Poo Club were trying to accomplish when they created their unique kitty litter subscription service.

This service is different from your typical litter subscription. With Kitty Poo Club, you don’t just get litter, but you also get an eco-friendly litter box that’s meant to be disposed of at the end of the month. That means no more scrubbing plastic litter boxes or lugging hefty boxes of litter across the grocery store parking lot.

About Kitty Poo Club

Kitty Poo Club products

Kitty Poo Club was started by Chad and Porter, a father and son team. Both men are entrepreneurs and cat owners with a mission to make caring for kitties easier and more environmentally friendly.

Their mission became a reality in 2015 with the launch of Kitty Poo Club. Since then, thousands of cat owners have signed up to have litter and disposable litter boxes delivered to their door.

Where Is Kitty Poo Club Located?

The company’s headquarters and litter box manufacturing facility are located in the founders’ hometown of Wooster, Ohio. Their litters are sourced and manufactured in various locations. Their corn and wheat litter, for instance, is sourced from US-grown crops while their patented silica litter is made using the founders’ unique concept in China.

What Types of Cats Is Kitty Poo Club Best Suited For?

If your cat uses the litter box, then Kitty Poo Club may be for them. Or rather, it may be for you!

This company offers subscription packages for cats, large and small, literally. You can choose from their standard litter box or their extra large size to fit kitties over 20 pounds.

You can also order multiple litter boxes per delivery if you have multiple cats. The company’s wide selection of litter types also means you should be able to find one that works well for your and your kitty’s needs.

Kitty Poo Club - litter and box

Disposable Boxes

One very unique thing about Kitty Poo Club is their inclusion of disposable litter boxes with each month’s litter.

These cardboard boxes are made of 100% recycled material and are recyclable themselves. The boxes are lined with FDA-approved, food-grade waterproofing so they stay fresh and intact throughout the month.

Ingeniously, the litter box acts as the shipping box for the litter each month, further reducing waste and materials.

Once your new box arrives, simply toss all the used litter in the trash, then break down the old box and toss it in the recycle bin.

Subscription Options

Kitty Poo Club’s basic subscription offer includes your choice of litter and a standard cardboard litter box delivered each month. The first delivery costs about $20 while each subsequent delivery costs about $29.

You can add a bundle to your first order if you need extra supplies. For an additional $9, you’ll receive a plastic litter scoop and a cardboard dome to put on top of your litter box. For an additional $42, you’ll receive those extra items plus an extra-large litter mat.

Each box and the litter to fill it is enough for one cat. If you have multiple cats, you will receive a box and litter for each. They offer discounts on multiple litter boxes when customers purchase 3 or more.

If you have a large kitty, you can opt for the XL Litter Box. This one is 3 inches wider and 3 inches longer and holds an extra bag of litter. This box costs about twice as much as the standard size.

You also have the option to add to your order toys, treats, and food from many popular brands.

The standard subscription delivers a new box every four weeks. However, if you need to adjust this to be more or less frequent, you can do so through your account dashboard.

Key Features

Kitty Poo Club - pouring litter in the box

No More Fuss

Kitty Poo Club removes so many of the hassles from keeping a clean litter box. For one, you no longer need to worry about hauling heavy litter boxes home from the store. With this option, your litter is delivered right to your door every month.

This subscription service also takes away the need for litter box scrubbing. Each month, simply dispose of your remaining litter and recycle the box. This not only saves you labor, time, and water, but it also makes for a cleaner, safer bathroom environment for your cat.

Better for the Environment

Plastic litter boxes are made of petroleum, a decidedly not-earth-friendly product. And they need to be scrubbed regularly, which uses water and produces wastewater that must be treated.

Kitty Poo Club replaces plastic litter boxes with 100% recycled cardboard boxes. These boxes are meant to be recycled at the end of every month. Plus, all the litter Kitty Poo Club sells is natural and better for the earth than fragrance-filled, synthetic litter.

Lots of Litter Options

Kitty Poo Club offers five different litter options. From biodegradable corn and wheat litter to state-of-the-art, naturally derived silica litter, you can easily find the right fit for you and your cat.

Some of these litters are clumping, which allows you to remove urine daily for less odor. Others absorb urine to reduce odors and bacteria growth while also reducing how much scooping you need to do each month.

Is Kitty Poo Club a Good Value?

If you compare the price of a Kitty Poo Club subscription to the price of litter you can buy at the store, this subscription is definitely on the more expensive side. Of course, with this option, you get the convenience of litter delivered along with a cat box you never have to deep clean. You also have to consider that the litter Kitty Poo Club provides is natural and of a higher quality than most.

With this in mind, the price looks more reasonable but is still an investment. However, for those who loathe keeping up the litter box or are very picky about their litter, I could see it being a very valuable option.

Our Experience With Kitty Poo Club

I’m lucky that my eight-month-old cat, Makoa, has pretty clean bathroom habits. He never has accidents and, ever since getting him on a variety of stomach-supporting supplements, he rarely has stinky or messy poos anymore. And still, I struggle to clean my cat box as often as I should.

Because of this, I always end up with a ton of urine caked to the back of the box. At least once a month, this gets bad enough that I have to dump the litter and scrub the box clean.

Avoiding this constant battle is one reason I wanted to try Kitty Poo Club. The other reason is because it’s really hard to find a decent natural litter where I live. This subscription service has plenty to choose from!

I decided to give the corn and wheat litter a try with Makoa.

When the box arrived, I was impressed with the ingenuity that allows the litter box to double as a durable shipping container for the litter (though, there is a thin outer box used as well). I was also excited to see that Kitty Poo Club has improved on their waterproof coating so now they no longer need to use a plastic tray on the bottom of the box.

Less plastic means less limited resource use and less environmentally unfriendly manufacturing practices.

The box is cute enough and I had no problem getting it set up. I had plans to slowly mix my old clay litter with the new litter to help Makoa get used to it. But when I poured all the new litter into the box to take my photos, Makoa jumped right in and did his business.

It was as if he’d been using biodegradable litter in a cardboard box his entire life!

Now, before he did his business, he did spend a few minutes playing with the litter. This caused quite a mess and made me immediately regret popping out the serrated piece of cardboard for the lower entry. But at least he was having fun.

The litter itself is great, other than being a little lightweight and, therefore, tracking very easily. The grains are about the same size as typical clay litter grains and they clump about as well. Surprisingly, the smell was on par with how my fragrance-free clay cat litter smells after a week of scooping every other day.

One big advantage of this litter, aside from the earth-friendly aspect, is that it’s not dusty at all. One big problem: my Chihuahua loves to eat clean litter! I’ve had to build a blockade around the litter box so he can’t sneak wheat and corn snacks.

So far, the box has held up well and Makoa has had no problem using it in place of his normal box. While the price may play a role in whether or not I continue with the service, I cannot speak highly enough of how much easier Kitty Poo Club makes it to keep your litter box clean and tidy.

Final Thoughts

If you struggle to keep your litter box clean, find yourself always running out of litter, or just want better environmentally-friendly litter options, I highly recommend checking out Kitty Poo Club.

Their recycled and recyclable disposable litter box is a genius idea that makes keeping the litter box clean as easy as it gets. In addition to the innovative box solution, they also offer five different natural kitty litters to fit every need. And all of this gets delivered right to your door as often as you want.

While this service might be a little pricey, you really can’t beat the convenience.
