Inquisitive and alert, this dog will make fast friends with tiny tots and other household pets. If you’re thinking about buying a Cavapoo puppy, expect to dish out around $800 or more.

Cavachon Overview

The Cavachon is the result of breeding a Bichon Frise with a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. This pint-sized pup is a relaxed and laid-back breed, meaning that he’ll do well in a city apartment. Available in a plethora of color choices, including white, tan, black, apricot, or tri-colored, the Cavachon is a super sweet pooch that adores both kids and other pets. Easy to train and effortless to love, this dog will cost you around $800 or more.

Cavapoo vs. Cavachon Appearance

The Cavachon is available in two different sizes, including small and toy. While a toy Cavachon stands between 10 and 13 inches at the shoulder and weighs between 10 and 14 pounds, the small version can grow to be around 20+ pounds.

Meanwhile, the Cavapoo is available in one size and will grow to stand between nine to 13 inches and weigh between seven and 18 pounds.

Both hybrid dogs can have curly coats and are available in a wide array of colors.

The Cavachon is a more relaxed breed with lower levels of energy, making them better suited for apartment dwellers or folks looking for a lap dog to lounge around with.

Both are extremely intelligent little dogs who thrive on mental stimulation and affection. If left to their own accord, both Cavachons and Cavapoos can get into mischief, including excessive yapping or chewing. Both of these breeds are highly intelligent and can pick up basic tricks with ease. Positive reinforcement training methods are recommended for both breeds, as is early socialization with other pets and people.

Cavapoo vs. Cavachon Health and Care

Both the Cavachon and the Cavapoo are healthy, hardy little hybrids. However, the Cavachon is known to suffer from heart defects and atopic dermatitis, which is a common type of skin allergy.

In addition to the heart issue listed above, the Cavapoo can develop hip dysplasia, eye problems, and luxating patella, or kneecap dislocation, as he ages.

Both breeds would do best on a high-quality, grain-free kibble. It is recommended to feed both the Cavachon and the Cavapoo about one cup per day divided into two smaller meals.

As far as grooming goes, the Cavachon will require brushing two to three times per week to keep his wavy coat looking gorgeous. The Cavapoo, who may inherit the Poodle’s curly coat, will need to be brushed daily.
