Yorkshire Terrier

Yorkshire Terriers, also known as Yorkies, are small dogs with lots of character. Not content to be a sleepy lapdog, a Yorkie is constantly on the prowl for games, discoveries, and adventure – and they’ll drag you along for the ride.

As fun and loving as Yorkies can be, their outsized personalities aren’t for everybody. Maybe you want a bigger dog, a chiller friend, or a hiking buddy that can handle longer walks. If that’s the case, why not check out one of these supremely cute Yorkie mixes?

And don’t worry, we didn’t forget the pictures!

The 25 Cutest Yorkie Terrier Mixes

1. Affenshire (Yorkshire Terrier x Affenpinscher)

Our first Yorkie mix is the Affenpinscher, an extremely smart German dog who looks just a tad like a monkey. Crossing them with a Yorkshire Terrier gets you an Affenshire, a little mischief-maker who prefers playtime to long walks. They’re most suitable for lower-activity owners who can spend a lot of time at home with them.

2. Borkie (Yorkshire Terrier x Beagle)

If you’re looking for a Yorkie mix that’s a little larger with higher energy, check out the Borkie, also known as the Yorgle. A crossbreed of a Yorkshire Terrier and a Beagle, the Borkie weighs up to 25 pounds and loves to hunt. It also enjoys a good bark, so make sure it gets used to strangers as a puppy.

3. Boston Yorkie (Yorkshire Terrier x Boston Terrier)

The first of many double-terrier Yorkie mixed breeds on our list is the Boston Yorkie (“Borkie” was already taken by the Beagle mix). Boston Yorkies are smart, intelligent, and adorable but take a lot of effort to groom. Diligent daily brushings will earn you a lifetime of love from this crossbreed.

4. Carkie (Yorkshire Terrier x Cairn Terrier)

Another mix of two Terriers, the Carkie’s parents are a Yorkie and a Cairn Terrier. Cairns are famously quiet, so mixing them with a Yorkie results in a chiller, more relaxed puppy that still retains the Yorkie’s heart-melting cuteness.

5. Corkie (Yorkshire Terrier x Cocker Spaniel)

Both the Yorkshire Terrier and the Cocker Spaniel are renowned for their good looks. However, the Cocker Spaniel is also a hunting dog, so get a Corkie if you’re looking for a Yorkie mix that loves to chase.

6. Chorkie (Yorkshire Terrier x Chihuahua)

One of the smallest designer crossbreeds, the Chorkie is cute but definitely a loudmouth. If you’ve got the patience to train the barking habit out of it, this Yorkie/Chihuaha mix can make a kind and gentle family dog.

7. Dorkie (Yorkshire Terrier x Dachshund)

We know what you’re thinking, and the answer is yes, Dorkies do live up to their name every now and then. With parents like the “I’ll fight anybody” Yorkshire Terrier and the “I will dig a hole in anything” Dachsund, how could they not? Yet despite its unfortunate name, Dorkies are cuddly, dependable companion dogs who need very little other than your attention.

8. Goldenshire (Yorkshire Terrier x Golden Retriever)

Whose idea was it to breed one of the biggest family dogs with one of the smallest? We’re not sure, but we can’t argue with the results. The Goldenshire is a happy-go-lucky bundle of smiles who will come back from every visit to the dog park with half a dozen new friends.

9. Griffonshire (Yorkshire Terrier x Brussels Griffon)

A Yorkshire Terrier and Brussels Griffon combine to create the lovably fluffy stuffed toy that is the Griffonshire. This tiny lapdog is exceptionally affectionate, and known for following its favorite people everywhere. It’s a bit too small to play rough with younger children, but older kids will fall in love – even when the Griffonshire follows them into the bathroom.

10. Havashire (Yorkshire Terrier x Havanese)

The Havanese is very trainable for a toy dog, so the Havashire is a real “best of both worlds” breed: independent and smart, yet also willing to do whatever it takes to make you happy. And it doesn’t hurt that they’re fluffy, cuddly lapdogs.

11. Jorkie (Yorkshire Terrier x Jack Russell Terrier)

You might also see this Yorkie/Jack Russell mix called a Yorkie Russell. Yorkies are already energetic and independent, and when combined with the Jack Russell’s hunting spirit, you’ll get a dog who’s very good at doing whatever it wants. They’re amazing playmates and adventure buddies; just be ready for mischief!

12. King Charles Yorkie (Yorkshire Terrier x Cavalier King Charles)

On the other end of the scale from the Jorkie, the King Charles Yorkie (or Yorkie-Cav) is a lapdog for those who would rather their furry friends stay mellow. The most work you’ll put into your relationship with a King Charles Yorkie is grooming. After all, beautiful coats like that don’t brush themselves.

13. Minpinie (Yorkshire Terrier x Miniature Pinscher)

The Minpinie, also called the Yorkie Pin, is a mix of a Yorkshire Terrier and a Miniature Pinscher. This Yorkie mixed breed combines the Yorkie’s exuberance with the Pinscher’s iconic black and rust coat and pointy ears. Minpinies are natural athletes and absolutely love children,  and you’ll love the novelty of watching your kids play with a pint-sized Doberman.

14. Morkie (Yorkshire Terrier x Maltese)

Also called a Malkie or a Yortese (nobody can agree), this crossover mixes the Yorkshire Terrier’s energy with the Maltese’s love of lap time. If you find Malteses a bit too passive and Yorkies a little too hyper, a Morkie/Yortese/Maltiork/whatever could be the right best friend for you.

15. Pugshire (Yorkshire Terrier x Pug)

In our opinion, they missed an opportunity by not calling this Yorkie mix the Porkie, but it’s not up to us. This cross between a Yorkie and a Pug is healthier than a Pug purebred, but still suffers from breathing problems. If you can make sure they get plenty of exercise and don’t gain too much weight, you’ll be in for many good years with one of the world’s cutest dogs.

16. Ratshire Terrier (Yorkshire Terrier x Rat Terrier)

Mixing a Yorkshire and a Rat Terrier results in the Ratshire Terrier, one of the smartest and friendliest mid-sized Yorkie crossbreeds. A little bit larger and a whole lot chiller, Ratshires (we hope “Ratties” doesn’t catch on) are known for their love of learning and showing off new obedience tricks.

17. Shorkie (Yorkshire Terrier x Shih Tzu)

Shih Tzus and Yorkies are both proud dogs. As you might suspect, a Shorkie – the crossbreed between the two – is a lively, independent breed that won’t form a close relationship with you right away. With early training, your Shorkie will acknowledge you as the authority and will become your adoring shadow forever after.

18. Snorkie (Yorkshire Terrier x Mini Schnauzer)

Are you mixing up all these names yet? Get ready, it’s only gonna get worse. Anyway, a Snorkie is a Yorkie/Schnauzer mix, with hardly any stubbornness and a soft spot a mile wide. They’re easy to train and like to get a lot of lap time.

19. Torkie (Yorkshire Terrier x Toy Fox Terrier)

This Yorkie mix combines two Terriers: a Yorkshire and a Toy Fox. It has a shaggy coat and relatively long legs. As you might expect, their natural terrier stubbornness is magnified. A Torkie picks the things and people it likes and refuses to budge from either of them. They take some work but easily form an unbreakable bond with their human family.

20. Westkie (Yorkshire Terrier x West Highland Terrier)

Yorkies and Westies are two Terriers that have an awful lot in common: small stature, lustrous coats, boundless energy, and constant readiness to go to war on behalf of their favorite humans. The Westkie inherits all those traits. It’s a compact powerhouse that’s always ready for an adventure. And they’re cute, too!

21. Yoranian (Yorkshire Terrier x Pomeranian)

Yoranians come from mating a Yorkshire Terrier with a Pomeranian. Those afraid that they wouldn’t be able to keep a fragile-framed toy dog safe should give the Yoranian a look; it tends to come out sturdier and healthier than either of its parents.

22. Yorkichon (Yorkshire Terrier x Bichon Frise)

It sounds a bit like a Japanese delicacy, but a Yorkichon is actually a cross between a Yorkie and a Bichon Frise. Yorkichons are cuddly companions with a big advantage: they shed a lot less than your average Yorkie. You’ll need to groom them regularly to keep their coats comfy and lustrous.

23. Yorkillon (Yorkshire Terrier x Papillon)

Papillons are renowned for their refusal to admit that they’re tiny. Combine them with a Yorkie, the other most confident toy breed, and you get the brave, feisty Yorkillon. These teeny pups can defend your home from evildoers and chase a ball with the best of them. Thankfully, they tire out more quickly, making them a great mix for less active owners.

24. Yorkinese (Yorkshire Terrier x Pekingese)

The Yorkinese, or Peekie, adds the Yorkie’s eyes and ears to the Pekingese’s famous fuzzy mustache. As the child of two lapdogs, the Yorkinese knows how to get its own way and will need a consistent “pack leader” so it doesn’t develop a Napoleon complex.

25. Yorkipoo (Yorkshire Terrier x Mini Poodle)

Crossing a Yorkie and a Miniature Poodle is an obvious choice, and the utterly sweet results prove it. But there are a few things you should remember about the Yorkipoo. While the Yorkie is a companion dog, Poodles are a working breed, and their Yorkiepoo puppies love to run. A Yorkipoo will love you, but don’t expect a lapdog!
